Several concerts scheduled to take place in Hamilton have been moved from the Music Hall — the mid-sized music venue within the New Vision United Church heritage building at 24 Main Street West — due to "critical structural issues" preventing it from safe public use.
As per posts from the Sonic Unyon account on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, upcoming shows set to be performed by the likes of Tim Baker, Dwayne Gretzky and Owen Riegling have been moved to different venues in the city amid the unforeseen circumstances. (Baker will now play at Bridgeworks on December 14, while Dwayne Gretzky and Riegling will both perform at Aeon Bayfront Studios on December 6 and December 2, respectively.)
It's yet to be seen when the Music Hall will receive the repairs it needs to be able to safely host concerts again. Reports from earlier this year indicate that renovation plans have been in the works for the space over the last decade, and its operators entered into a 2024 partnership with the Music Hall Alliance nonprofit to help secure funding to move the process along.
*VENUE UPDATE* Due to unforeseen but critical structural issues with The Music Hall that prevent safe public use of the venue, the Tim Baker & All Hands concert on Dec 14 has been moved to Bridgeworks. All tickets issued for the original venue will be honoured at the door.
**VENUE UPDATE** Due to safety concerns over the building's infrastructure at New Vision United Church, the Dwayne Gretzky show on December 6th is being moved to Aeon Bayfront Studios (243 Queen St N). New tix released: tixr.com/sonicunyon
