Dan Sartain, a veteran singer-songwriter who dropped dozens of releases spanning the garage punk and rockabilly subgenres, has died. He was 39 years old.

The Alabama-based musician's exact date and cause of death have not yet been revealed, but a GoFundMe has been set up in his honour to help cover his funeral costs. Extra money from the fundraiser will be given to Dan's young daughter Audrey.

Sartain first started his music career as a member of a hardcore band in the 1990s. He went on to release numerous solo albums over the next decades on labels like Swami and One Little Independent.

Sartain also toured with the White Stripes and the Hives. He released a single called "Bohemian Grove" with Jack White's Third Man Records label in 2009.
