TikTok strikes again! Frank Ocean's decade-old track "Lost" is suddenly a hit, and it's all thanks to a TikTok trend.
"Lost" appeared on Ocean's 2012 album Channel Orange, but it's suddenly shooting up the charts. It's at No. 57 on Spotify's global chart for the week of January 14 to 20. In both Canada and the US, it's at No. 22 this week — up more than 150 points from the week before.
In Canada, the song is at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his highest-charting solo single ever in the country.
Meanwhile, the album Channel Orange has risen in Spotify's global albums chart to No. 74 — up 116 spots from the week before. The album is also on the Billboard chart at No. 65, its highest chart placement since 2016.
As of this writing, there are 216,600 TikTok videos using Frank Ocean's "Lost." Many of them feature users doing the same leg-shimmying dance.
This is by no means the first time an old song has suddenly become popular thanks to TikTok. Last year, Exclaim! spoke with Mother Mother about how their '00s material — in particular the song "Hayloft" — had become a surprise hit on the social media platform.
