Americana singer-songwriter Del Barber has announced his forthcoming seventh studio album and plans to bring his new material across Canada on tour this spring.
Almanac arrives April 28 via acronym. It follows 2021's B-side collection, Stray Dogs, as well as 2019's Easy Keeper.
The singer-songwriter composed Almanac on the farm he lives on with his wife and two children, located 400 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg. He and his touring band recorded the LP in the city at No Fun Club in the span of one week alongside co-producers Grant Siemens and Scott Franchuk.
"I want my work to be seen as subtle by definition," Barber said of the album. "I want my statements to come across as questions rather than decrees or opinions. Some of these songs are descriptions of my world through my own eyes; a way of songwriting I've never felt I've done well until now. Writing Almanac felt like I had another chance. It felt like spring."
Speaking of spring, that's when the singer-songwriter will be hitting the great Canadian road with Lucette to celebrate the record (and the thaw). Kicking off in Rochedale on April 4, the run of dates will take Barber to cities in nine provinces over the course of approximately a month. The tour wraps in Dartmouth on May 6.
