City and Colour

"If I Should Go Before You"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 17, 2015

Despite his damned pretty singing voice, Dallas Green has revealed a supremely dusty and dour new tune from City and Colour's forthcoming If I Should Go Before You. Ahead of the album's October 9 due date via Dine Alone, he's streaming the title track.

A slight C&W shuffle simmers beneath reverb-drenched guitar tones, and what might be the jingle-jangle of boot spurs. Here, Green goes on to sing about emotional damage so devastating that it even invades one's unconscious self. His lullaby-soft singing juxtaposes the vibe of lines about "crying ourselves awake."

Somewhat grim but also somewhat gorgeous, you can stream Green's latest leak below, courtesy of Billboard.
