Calexico Release Limited-Edition Live Album

While Arizona-based folk rockers Calexico might be busy on their current European tour in support of last year's Carried to Dust, that doesn't mean they haven't had time to do a little recording.

The band have just issued a limited-edition tour/mail-order-only live album: Ancienne Belgique - Live In Brussels 2008, which was recorded during the European leg of their tour last year.

"The past ten months of touring, the new album Carried to Dust has been filled with a lot of great shows and experiences," said Calexico co-founder Joey Burns in the band's website. "We've met a lot of folks, seen a lot of friends and there's been a bunch of requests for some live recordings of the new material to be sold at our concerts. So, with the help of the staff at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, we recorded one of the best shows of the tour."

Accompanying the release are photos from the band's tour of Santiago de Chile and South America, which were influential during the writing process for Carried to Dust. Burns says that they would love to return to South America and play some of the countries they missed last time around, including Mexico - ironic, in that the band are named after the Californian border town of the same name.

In the meantime, you can order a copy of Ancienne Belgique here or if you're in Europe, check out Calexico at one of their current tour dates.
