The Smashing Pumpkins are celebrating some big anniversaries this year, including 30 years of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 25 years of Machina. While they don't really have a lot of touring commitments on the books right now after being on the road pretty much all of 2024, Billy Corgan is not one to let the occasion(s) pass without celebration.
In addition to announcing his new solo project, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God, he has announced a North American tour performing selections from the two aforementioned records — as well as last year's Aghori Mhori Mei — including Canadian stops in Muskoka, Toronto and Montreal.
Corgan will perform in a quartet with the Pumpkins' recently recruited guitarist Kiki Wong, drummer Jake Hayden and bassist Kid Tigrrr (Jenna Fournier). The Return to Zero Tour kicks off on June 7 in Baltimore, MD, with the band swiftly making their venture to Canada to play Muskoka's KEE to Bala (June 11), Toronto's History (June 12) and Montreal's Beanfield Theatre (June 13) thereafter. The remainder of the dates will be completed stateside, wrapping up on June 29 in Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to everything else, Corgan has joined forces with Lyric Opera in Chicago, IL, for a seven-performance series dedicated to Mellon Collie, which will take place from November 21 through 30. The musician did the arrangements alongside James Lowe, and he will perform with "special guest artists" in addition to the Lyric orchestra and chorus.
A remixed and remastered edition of Machina and its companion album, Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, will also be sold as an 80-track box set exclusively at Corgan's Highland Park tea shop, Madame Zuzu's. (The original Machina will be reissued more widely on vinyl, available on August 22.)
