Barzin

"All the While" (video)

Following a five-year wait, slowcore-dabbling Toronto songwriter Barzin is set to follow up his 2009 effort Notes to an Absent Lover with a new album called To Live Alone in That Long Summer. Now to help tease the upcoming record, he's shared a video for the album's "All the While."

The song is built on gently brushed drums, soft electric guitar and sparse piano, all of which makes a warm backdrop for Barzin's hushed vocal delivery.

The video was directed by British filmmaker Jason Yeomans. In a statement, Barzin said, "I love the simplicity of the video he has made for 'All the While.' The video plays with the age-old metaphor of being weight down by something, and the desire to want to unburden oneself of this weight. To unpack, to escape, to let go... what have you; these themes are all connected with this metaphor, and Jason ran with it and made something beautiful out of it."
