While everyone's been losing it over Billie Eillish's whispered, horny appearance on Charli XCX's recent "Guess" remix, an even more earth-shattering collaboration was released into the zeitgeist — the long-awaited team-up between A$AP Rocky and… Jessica Pratt?
In a twist that genuinely no one saw coming, Rocky has enlisted the enigmatic folk songwriter to sing on the outro of his new track "Highjack." It's not a sample à la Pratt's appearance on Troye Sivan's "Can't Go Back, Baby," but an honest-to-goodness feature. Weird! And cool!
In an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Rocky explained, "I just love alternative. I love just different sounds and whatnot. [Jessica Pratt] kind of gave me this kind of Portishead meets Stevie Nicks vibe a little bit, so I always fucked with her as an artist."
That's not necessarily how I'd describe Pratt's music, but hey! Whatever floats your boat.
Rocky reportedly has a new album on the way (don't even bother asking about Rihanna's), and it's called Don't Be Dumb. Earlier this year, Pratt released Here in the Pitch, one of our favourites of 2024 so far.
Check out "Highjack" below, which also features some crooning from Jon Batiste.
