The Celebs Are Back to Their Old Celeb Tricks
Aaron Paul, Julianne Moore, Mark Duplass, Kristen Bell and many more are attempting to fight racism with cringe, apparently
Published Jun 11, 2020It's been a truly banner year for celebs forcing us to question what their purpose in society really is. When COVID-19 and its subsequent social isolation first started, a bunch of famous people banded together for a horrifyingly cringey cover of John Lennon's "Imagine." That video was roasted to oblivion, but it wasn't enough to stop these people from making this mortifyingly uncomfortable video about racism and police brutality.
#ITakeResponsibility is a new campaign from the NAACP that encourages white people to call out racism and take responsibility for their own actions. That sounds like a great idea, and one that's worthy of our attention during the current Black Lives Matter uprising. That said, the accompanying video is going to be roasted into oblivion.
The two-minute clip sees appearances from Julianne Moore, Kristen Bell, Sarah Paulson, Aaron Paul, Aly Raisman, Bethany Joy Lenz, Bryce Dallas Howard, Debra Messing, Ilana Glazer, Justin Theroux, Kesha, Mark Duplass, Piper Perabo and Stanley Tucci.
Aaron Paul certainly gets the award for most intense fake solemnness, though Justin Theroux comes close to hamming it up the same amount. Somehow, all of them manage to seem intensely insincere and pretentious while discussing this urgent issue. Ultimately, you deserve an award if you're able to sit through the whole thing without closing your tab.
