For the makers of Curb Your Enthusiasm, every season is the last season. With that information, it shouldn't come as too much of a shock that Season 11 of the show almost ended with the death of (fictional) Larry David — and that they even went as far as to film the scene.
While working on the Emmy-winning season, the creators of Curb were unsure if it would be their last. To make sure all of their bases were covered, they took advantage of the ongoing plot of David's ulteriorly motivated political career — which stemmed from his desire not to put a fence around his pool. The final episode of the season was to show David falling into someone else's pool, never to resurface.
"I wanted to prepare as if it was the last [season]," said Curb executive producer Jeff Schaffer [via the Hollywood Reporter]. "So Larry kept falling into that pool without the fence and banging his head [for the scene]. We actually have a shot after he'd fallen in, of the still pool with just the envelope floating in the middle, and maybe adding one bubble."
"We shot as if it was going to be the last one ever," he continued. "I had to at least prepare for it."
Lucky for fans of the show, the 12th season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is currently being written.
