The title track and first single is a newly recorded rendition of a song fellow Texas country vet Rodney Crowell first released five years ago

Willie Nelson simply can't stop making records. After releasing Bluegrass last year, the living legend has announced another new album, previewed today by the title track.

Billed as his "75th solo album of new material," The Border is due May 31 via Sony. Somewhat confusingly, the title track isn't exactly new: it was originally released by fellow Texas country vet Rodney Crowell five years ago. Crowell and Allen Shamblin wrote it from the perspective of a bulletproof vest-clad border worker.

Nelson's weathered yet strong rendition of the weighty 2019 track is among the 10 newly recorded studio performances captured on the album, including four new compositions by the icon and Buddy Cannon.

Listen to "The Border" below, where you'll also find the album tracklist.
