"Weird Al" Yankovic Is Shelving His Michael Jackson Parodies After 'Leaving Neverland'

The parodist said his fat suit is currently in storage

"Weird Al" Yankovic is currently a few weeks into his 64-city "Strings Attached" tour. While the shows are going off without a hitch, fans may have noticed two songs missing from the set list: "Fat" and "Eat It." That's because Yankovic has shelved them in the wake of the Michael Jackson docuseries Leaving Neverland.

Speaking with Billboard, Yankovic said he decided not to perform the songs after details of Jackson's alleged pedophilia resurfaced in the new doc.

"I don't know if that's going to be permanent or not, but we just felt that with what's happened recently with the HBO documentaries, we didn't want anybody to feel uncomfortable," Yankovic said. "I felt I had enough fan favorites in the show that I could get away with it. I haven't gotten a lot of pushback. There have been some people who have expressed disappointment, but we decided to err on the side of not offending people."

As for the fat suit, which was a staple of Yankovic's shows when performing those songs, the singer said it may be back. "It's still in storage," he said. "So it may come back some day. We'll see."
