Watch the Smile Perform a Tiny Desk Concert

See them play some tracks from 'A Light for Attracting Attention'

The Smile recently released the live album Live at Montreux Jazz Festival, July 2022, but fans craving even more live content from the Radiohead side-project from Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood (with drummer Tom Skinner) are in luck. The band have released a Tiny Desk Concert featuring a trio of songs from last year's A Light for Attracting Attention.

Sometimes joined, as they were in Toronto, by saxophonist Robert Stillman, the group perform the piano mood piece "Pana-vision," strut through the groovy basslines of "The Smoke," and strip down to sparse arpeggios for "Skrting on the Surface." It's all given a very jazzy backbone thanks to Skinner's vibey syncopations.

Watch the performance in the NPR office below. The writeup accompanying the video notes that the band recorded a fourth song, but they weren't happy with the performance so it was cut.
