Ahead of Only God Was Above Us, Vampire Weekend appear to be launching a podcast called Vampire Campfire.
The band haven't formally announced the podcast, but it's already up on podcasting platforms. The first episode, simply titled "Campfire," consists of nothing more than 25 seconds of crackling campfire sounds. It was posted Sunday (May 5).
UPDATE (3/7, 4:30 p.m. ET): Vampire Weekend have officially announced Vampire Campfire and shared the first episode. In a statement posted on Instagram, they wrote, "We talk new music, influences and our upcoming tour. We also discuss the potential of a future album called The 40-Year-Old E-Mail."
The podcast's official synopsis reads, "After years of private, unfilmed campfire discussions, the boys (Ezra Koenig, Chris Tomson & Chris Baio) welcome you into their world."
Details about Vampire Campfire are presumably forthcoming. Koenig is an experienced podcaster, as he hosts the radio show Time Crisis on Apple Music.
Only God Was Above Us is due out April 5. Hear the singles "Capricorn" and "Gen-X Cops" here.
