The wait for the follow-up to Toxic Holocaust's 2011 LP Conjure and Command is nearly over. The Portland-based thrash vets recently wrapped up recording sessions for their latest set, dubbed Chemistry of Consciousness, and Relapse Records will have it in retailers later this fall.
A press release confirms that the band recorded the LP on their own, but they had Converge guitarist/studio guru Kurt Ballou mix it at his GodCity Studio, while Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) did the mastering at Audiosiege Engineering.
Though sound samples have yet to arrive, a statement from guitarist Joel Grind explains that the new tunes veer "into a more punky territory than the last record while still maintaining the Toxic Holocaust sound." Twelve songs are expected to appear on Chemistry of Consciousness.
Earlier this year, the combo put out their 22-song From the Ashes of Nuclear Destruction rarities set, which featured a decade's worth of demos, B-sides, compilation appearances and more.
