In the Local Acts segment of nominations celebrating the best artists from specific areas, the performers vying for the Best Canadian Act are Drake, Shania Twain, the Beaches, Charlotte Cardin and Jamie Fine.
Twain, the Beaches and Cardin have all shared albums this year, and Drake's For All the Dogs is due to arrive on October 6.
Globally, American artists have dominated the nominations, with Taylor Swift (raking in seven), Olivia Rodrigo and SZA (with six each) leading the way.
