The Strumbellas are back! The Kawartha Lakes-hailing folk-rock outfit have announced their forthcoming new album, led by the single "Hold Me."
Part Time Believer arrives February 9 on Glassnote Records. Produced by Ben Allen, it follows the band's most recent LP, 2019's Rattlesnake — marking their first record with new lead vocalist Jimmy Chauveau, who came into the fold last year.
When the pandemic initially took hold and brought touring screeching to a halt, the Strumbellas put all of their artistic energy into recording Part Time Believer, whittling down nearly 50 songs to the album's 12 tracks.
"I think people often feel like things are escaping them, or they're trying to grab on to something — happiness, gratitude, professional or personal goals — and for some reason, they just can't get there. Even if they get the thing they want, it doesn't feel the way they thought it would," the band's David Ritter explained in a statement. "A lot of these songs are about trying to, like, figure out why we're all feeling this way, and how we can find more peace in our lives."
Of its spirited lead single, Ritter added, "It's a lot about feeling sad. It's love and depression, love and dark times and what it means to be loved and need love at your lowest, and what people can mean to each other when they're down."
