Canadian folk rockers the Strumbellas have a new lead vocalist. New addition Jimmy Chauveau has taken over singing duties, while previous vocalist Simon Ward is taking a step back while still remaining a behind-the-scenes member of the band.
Chauveau is known for his work fronting the bands Ascot Royals and Kadeema. He said in a statement, "I am super, super excited and humbled to have been offered this opportunity to join this wonderful group of humans, and I'm really looking forward to what the future brings with them."
Ward, meanwhile, is leaving the grind of the Strumbellas' busy touring schedule, but will still be involved in songwriting. He said in a statement, "I am just not cut out to tour to the same extent anymore, and as much as I love the band, I have decided I would like to put my focus on my first loves: songwriting and being at home with my family. Stepping back from touring will let me focus on that and more, and I'm excited for everything to come. I greatly look forward to writing and sharing new music with everyone in the future."
The Strumbellas currently don't have a date for their live debut with Chauveau, or any material lined up just yet — although they're apparently working on new songs now.
Last year, Simon Ward released a solo album under the name Simon and the Island.
