"Reykjavik, January 2015"

BC electric songwriter Teen Daze has been dropping hints to his followers about a new album, and now he has confirmed the impending release of an EP called A World Away. It's due out on January 13, and a song can be previewed ahead of time.

The track is called "Reykjavik, January 2015," an intriguing title given that it is named after a date that hasn't happened yet. It's a meditative instrumental that pairs peaceful piano playing with a low-key arrangement of soft synths and head-bobbing dance beats.

Teen Daze previously posted a blog update explaining that he has been recording at Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco. It's unclear if this is the same album that he was referring to at the time, since he had promised that it would emphasize live instrumentation and pop-rock influences, whereas "Reykjavik, January 2015" is more along the lines of his electronic work.

Hear it below. See Teen Daze's upcoming European schedule here. Funnily enough, he's not playing Reykjavik in January.

UPDATE: here's an explanation from Teen Daze about the title, plus the status of his live-band album:
