The collection is a companion piece to the artist's acclaimed album 'DEACON' from earlier this year

serpentwithfeet — a.k.a. Josiah Wise — also has legs: he's continuing to make 2021 his year by unveiling plans to release a new EP entitled DEACON'S GROVE on November 5 via Secretly Canadian.

The EP follows — and acts as a companion piece to — serpentwithfeet's acclaimed sophomore record DEACON (which made Exclaim!'s list of the 31 best albums of 2021 so far). It's a collection of both new material and reinterpretations of album highlights, including a remix of DEACON's lead single "Fellowship" with new verses courtesy of Alex Isley and Ambre.

The inauspiciously rhythmic, incantatory "Down Nuh River" is one of two new songs, alongside "Shoot Ya Shot." Of the single, the musician said in a statement:

When working on "Down Nuh River," I was thinking of all the songs that me, my friends and cousins made up as kids. We had so much fun creating and reinventing songs on the playground and the porch — I wanted to channel that energy in this track.

Return to your old gym class haunts and watch the Keith Nedd-choreographed video for "Down Nuh River" below, where you'll also find the EP's tracklist.
