NXNE returns to Toronto again next month, and the first round of performers has just been revealed.
The festival runs from June 8 to 17, with Jazz Cartier, Azealia Banks and Big Freedia topping the initial bill.
In addition to ticketed Club Land events, Yonge-Dundas Square will host a series of free live performances featuring sets from U.S. Girls, Torres, Yungblud, Sean Leon, Alx Veliz, Cadence Weapon, Kamikaze Girls and Nate Husser.
UPDATE (5/22, 5 p.m. EDT): NXNE has now added a few more acts, including Chvrches, Lights, Robert DeLong, Skye Wallace and Strands.
Of course, as previously announced, the festival will also feature a series of club shows curated by Canadian artists, with those shows running from June 10 to 16.
Curators include Leah Fay and Peter Dreimanis (July Talk), K-os, Jasmyn Burke (Weaves), Odario Williams (Grand Analog), Katie Monks (Dilly Dally), Cadence Weapon, Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo), Cone McCaslin (Sum 41), Terra Lightfoot, Ian Blurton (Change of Heart), Moe Berg (Pursuit of Happiness), Ralph, the Elwins, Dan Burke and more.
Performers include Phédre, Saya, Die Mannequin, Charlotte Cornfield, Ice Cream, Sun K, Myst Milano, the Pick Brothers Band, La Timpa, Goodbye Honolulu, Ferraro, Tatnisha, Hex, Just John and Evan Redsky.
