There's just over a week to go before Mykki Blanco delivers long-awaited debut album Mykki, but the rapper has offered a bit of the project up to stream ahead of time. Despite featuring a guest vocal from Jean Deaux, the song is titled "Loner."
Producer Jeremiah Meece packages the piece with staccato synth whimsy, airy vocal samples and slight but speedy percussive tics. Mykki Blanco offers half-sung bars about feeling low and emotionally out of control, ("I'm fucked up / I know that I need help"). Deaux delivers a tuneful but frustrated hook wherein she's getting ready to break her phone.
