Former Smiths frontman Morrissey has announced that he'll be heading back into the studio in January and February 2023 to record his new album Without Music the World Dies, despite having not yet released his latest record Bonfire of Teenagers.

According to a recent post on Morrissey Central, the 12-track release will be produced by Joe Chiccarelli. Morrissey will be joined by Jesse Tobias, Gustavo Manzur, Alain Whyte, Juan Galeano and Brendan Buckley in the studio band. The singer also worked with Tobias, Manzur and Whyte in writing the album.

"The songs, of course, are magnificent," Moz said in a very characteristic statement, "and even the relentless difficulties we have experienced recently are not enough to kill us off. "

Bonfire of Teenagers is reportedly set to be released in spring 2023, after being delayed from its original February 2023 schedule. Last month, the controversial musician claimed that the album "is exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles)."

Whichever comes first, it will be the follow-up to 2020's I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, Moz's final album for BMG, the label from which he said he was dropped in favour of "diversity" hires back in 2020.
