Morrissey Announces New Album, Says He'll Sign to the Highest Bidder

'Bonfire of Teenagers' will be his first release since allegedly being dropped from BMG

Ever since claiming he was dropped from BMG in favour of "diversity" hires, Morrissey has been keeping pretty quiet about his plans for new music — even if he won't shut up about much else. That era has now come to an end, as the former Smiths frontman has just announced plans for a new record.

The 11-track album is titled Bonfire of Teenagers, though has yet to receive an official release date. In a statement posted to his website, Morrissey explained that as he remains unsigned to any label, the album "is available to the highest (or lowest) bidder."

"The worst year of my life concludes with the best album of my life," the artist wrote of the forthcoming effort.

The new record will mark his direct follow-up to his final release with BMG, 2020's I Am Not a Dog on a Chain.

A final note from the singer confirms his plans for a short residency at Las Vegas's Caesar's Palace this summer. The artist explained there will be "no anti-social distancing or facial concealment rules in place."
