The kids are returning to McGill, Concordia and Université de Montréal — and, not coincidentally, Montreal is getting a wave of concerts in the coming weeks. From must-see metal shows (both local and international) to the grand homecoming of arguably the city's greatest electronic export, here are the can't-miss concerts coming to Montreal in September 2024.

Riot grrrl trailblazers Bikini Kill changed the music scene forever in the '90s, and they've enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, with Kathleen Hanna bringing back the band for a series of tours, proving that their ferocious music remains as urgent as ever.

Quebec is one of the world's hotspots for heavy music — and Spectral Wound are carrying on that tradition with their spooky, ritualist black metal. They're fresh off the bludgeoning (yet also surprisingly fun) new album Songs of Blood and Mire, so don't miss the hometown release show.

Fucked Up
Foufounes Éléctriques, September 13

Fucked Up have been particularly vibrant and prolific lately, having released the album One Day last year, followed by Another Day this year, and even creating an album within 24 hours. This feverish momentum will carry them into Montreal with openers Chastity.

Judas Priest
Bell Centre, September 13

You know 'em, you love 'em — one of the most iconic heavy bands of all time will come through Montreal in support of Invincible Shield, their first album in six years. It's the kick-off show for their North American tour, so they'll be coming in fresh.

POP Montreal

One of the city's most celebrated annual festivals descends upon Montreal for five days. This year's performers include Cassandra Jenkins, the reunited Sunset Rubdown, Marnie Stern, Basia Bulat, Spirit of the Beehive, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Luna Li and Stars.

Once a member of Mac DeMarco's live band, Peter Sagar has had lots of success with his own project, HOMESHAKE, including releasing two albums in 2024: the alt-rocking CD Wallet and the vibey, dreamy Horsie. Although he's based in Toronto these days, the Montreal show will be a homecoming.

Kaytranada
Parc Jean-Drapeau, September 28

One of the city's greatest musical exports returns home in support of the new album Timeless. Kaytranada is one of the most sought-after producers in the industry — but, unlike so many of his contemporaries, he's best known not for the beats he makes for other artists, but for his own star-studded albums.
