Wolf Alice are back! The UK quartet have announced the forthcoming release of their fourth studio album, previewed today by new single "Bloom Baby Bloom."
The Clearing arrives August 29 through RCA Records, and is now available for pre-order. Produced by Greg Kurstin, it's the follow-up to 2021's Blue Weekend and sees frontwoman Ellie Rowsell set aside her guitar to focus on her singing.
"I've used the guitar as a shield in the past," she explained, "playing it has perhaps been some way to reject the 'girl singer in band' trope, but I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock instrument so it's been freeing to put the guitar down and reach a point where I don't feel like I need to prove that I'm a musician."
Rowsell is in full command of her instrument — which she can engineer into channelling the vocal acrobatics of Caroline Polachek and a howl to equal effect — on the piano-driven "Bloom Baby Bloom," which arrives alongside an All That Jazz-inspired music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo.
