Tampa-based post-punks Merchandise may have a hardcore past, but the band certainly learned to incorporate a poppy sound on their latest effort After the End. A new remix of "Green Lady" from Italian percussion group Ninos du Brasil, however, has taken the band's sound in an even more unusual direction.
The glimmering synth-pop vibe that made the original sound like an '80s anthem dissipates in favour of a more obscure combination of electronic noises and singer Carson Cox's manipulated vocals slowed-down to a robotic drawl.
Stereogum premiered the remix, but you can give it a listen in the player below. After the End is out now via 4AD and you can see the band's upcoming tour dates here.
