"Lonesome Sound" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 8, 2016

Merchandise are nearly ready to release their latest LP A Corpse Wired for Sound, and they're teasing the upcoming album with a new video for "Lonesome Sound."

The single follows the previously shared "Flower of Sex" and "End of the Week," and its new video was directed by frontman Carson Cox. The clip sees him channelling the influence of filmmakers Kenneth Anger and Maya Deren.

"The video for 'Lonesome Sound' is meant to be a more mythical or classical representation of the lyrics," Cox said in a statement. "The Woman as Goddess and the Man as her vessel. It is not my intention to tell a story but to play with reality and fiction in search of a sort of ambiguity that more reflects my personal experience. There's no happy ending here, but there is a light show."

Take it all in below. A Corpse Wired for Sound is due out September 23 through 4AD.
