Recently dubbed "Dad Rock" band Limp Bizkit are still promoting their 2021 record Still Sucks, and with no updates on their new album, the band's most recent move is a fully AI-generated music video for the track "Turn It Up, Bitch."
The music video was released yesterday (July 3). In the video, the band members are outfitted as different careers in trademark AI-generated sludge and glossy, airbrushed uncanniness.
From deep fake personas to AI impersonations, the use of this technology has been a topic of contention for a while now. Limp Bizkit aren't the first band to use AI-generated images in their music videos: Youth Lagoon (a.k.a. Trevor Powers) called out Washed Out for the AI-generated music video for "The Hardest Part" in May, saying the video was "the best case of blatant artlessness [he's] ever seen." L.S. Dunes also came under fire for their use of AI platform @IAMMETHISISI for the "Old Wounds" visual accompaniment.
Let's hope Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland won't take any critiques against the "Turn It Up, Bitch" music video to court.
