JOYFULTALK Announce 'Plurality Trip' LP, Premiere New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 17, 2018

Experimental Nova Scotia-based composer Jay Crocker is set to release his sophomore record with JOYFULTALK. Titled Plurality Trip, the album is due out on August 24 via Constellation Records.

The project started as a means of breaching the isolation caused by a move across the country that left Crocker without financial stability or a musical community. It resulted in the creation of a series of self-invented synthesizers, through which he channelled his creativity into the 2016 JOYFULTALK debut MUUIXX.

On the latest recording, he's joined by fellow Calgary expat and multi-instrumentalist Shawn Dicey.

The new material is decidedly darker than its predecessor, taking influence from contemporary trance and techno, while remaining "rooted in the outré swamps of krautrock and the tangled webs of modal jazz."
