Toronto-based indie pop songwriter Jesse Northey (of Jesse and the Dandelions) has released a video for new single "Soul Seeker."
The track is a smooth, jaunty slice of '60s-inspired psych-pop — think the best parts of early Rogue Wave — shaded in with a few tinges of melancholy. The single is from his upcoming release Onion Knight, which will be out sometime this year via Victory Pool.
Speaking about "Soul Seeker" in a press release, Northey said the song is about "living for the chase in the name of trying to experience more, and actually missing the point because you couldn't see the big picture or were having too fun to notice any sort of damage you were causing. It's a shift towards more awareness, less destruction, and the root causes of joy."
The single is accompanied by a video, directed by J.S. de Courcy, which features various acts of boat theft. In a press release, de Courcy said: "Nobody steals boats anymore, especially ones without motors. This is maritime counterpoint; three movements of passion with a finale of love."
