Back in April, Jesse and the Dandelion's Jesse Northey shared "Soul Seeker" and revealed that he'd be releasing an album called Onion Knight sometime this summer.
Today sees Northey officially announce that album — Onion Knight will arrive August 10 on Victory Pool Records, and we get another taste of it via new single "Both Eyes Closed."
Onion Knight was produced by Thomas D'Arcy at Toronto's Taurus Studios. "Onions are associated with crying," Northey said in a statement about the record. "I wanted to conjure an imagery that confronts the stoic heroism associated with masculinity and take a jab at it."
"Both Eyes Closed" — which comes attached to a video from Cayley Thomas and Bob L'Heureux — is about "not being present enough in the moment and missing an opportunity to connect," explained Northey. "It's close but not quite. Wind with no air, a fire with no spark, a star with no shine."
The song is a warm, burbling piece of retro piano pop, and you can check it out alongside the Onion Knight tracklist below.
