Toronto's Invasions overhauled their sound last year, trading in garage rock for "surf western" on their self-titled album. They seem to be sticking with that new sound for the time being, since it comes through on the newly released track "No Darkness."
Sporting trumpets and moody minor-key strums, the song is steeped in reverb-y atmosphere and smouldering, brooding intensity that builds to dramatic, loud crescendos. It was recorded, engineered and mixed by Edan Scime Stokell.
This is the title track from the impending No Darkness EP, due out on May 28. Scroll past the group's tour schedule to listen.
Tour dates:
05/01 Toronto, ON - Izakaya Sushi House *
05/05 Toronto, ON - The Silver Dollar Room ^
* with Pet Sun, Link
^ with Mystic Braves, Sam Coffe & the Iron Lungs
