Today marks the 72nd rotation around the sun for rock icon Iggy Pop, and to celebrate, he's shared a brand new tune.
"Family Affair" is a decidedly funky sounding outing from the rocker, particularly in its bass line. You can thank Parliament-Funkadelic's Bootsy Collins for that, as he appears on the song.
"To all Poptimists!" Pop wrote on Bandcamp, possibly not realizing he was name-checking a decades long cultural war at this point. He added that the song "made me feel good and it was good company and I hoped I could put it out and it would be good company for someone else too."
