Freedom Writers Announce Debut Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 19, 2013

Following a few single premieres, Toronto rap collective Freedom Writers are stepping up their game with news of a debut LP Now dropping this fall.

The album is due out October 10, and a press release confirms that the group — Tona, Adam Bomb, Frankie Payne, Theo3, Progress and Big Sproxx — have collected 17 socially conscious cuts for the LP. It's unclear at present if this includes previously previewed tracks likes "Wake Up," "Arizona Bay" and "For the Change," but the songs could very well pop up on the album.

Beats on the record were served up by Big Sproxx, while the five MCs of the group get help from Ian Kamau, Ayah and T.R.A.C.K.S. of IRS along the way.

Down below, you can see a quick teaser for the LP, as well as a YouTube clip of their 2010 tune "Wake Up." The album cover is above.
