Believe it or not, iconic '60s rock legend Donovan is emerging for a full-on North American tour. And yes, it will be coming to Canada.
The famed singer-songwriter has confirmed a North American tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his 1966 chart-topping hit "Sunshine Superman." As such, the trek is being dubbed "The 50th Anniversary 'Sunshine Superman' North American Tour."
The dates kick off in the U.S. at the beginning of September and will eventually make their way to Canada for a show in Vancouver on October 19 and in Toronto on October 20. You can see the full North American schedule below and a selection of upcoming European dates over here.
A press release promises, "Audiences during the tour will be treated to Donovan's history of hits, including 'Sunshine Superman,' 'Mellow Yellow,' 'The Hurdy Gurdy Man,' 'Jenifer Juniper,' as well as his legendary storytelling and other cult classic songs."
Adding an interesting aside, a percentage of proceeds from the tour will support the "Donovan Children's Fund," which is a division of the David Lynch Foundation. It aims to help bring transcendental meditation "to tens of thousands of at-risk students in underserved schools throughout the United States."
In a statement Donovan said, "I am delighted to be going on tour throughout North America, to thank all who have followed my work from the beginning — and all who have just discovered me now."
Tickets go on sale on April 11 at Donovan's website.
