Dana Sipos dropped her latest full-length record Roll Up the Night Sky last year, and she's still on the road playing in support of the recent songs. Before Sipos heads overseas for some newly announced shows, though, she's unveiled a brand new video for album cut "A Coronary Tale."
The video was directed by Colin Harrington and opens on gorgeous shots of Sipos amidst the natural glory that the forest has to offer. Suddenly flipping the viewers' perspective, the initial scene gets artificially recreated in an art gallery setting.
"In the song I was exploring different components of the heart — bringing it outside the body and breaking it down, also weaving the psychological aspects with the emotional, human experience," Sipos tells Exclaim! "So we wanted to bring some of these elements to life as realistically and literally as possible — hence the pumping heart hanging on the gallery wall."
The outdoor shots were collected in rainforests near Victoria, BC, while gallery footage was filmed in Guelph, ON. The imagery aims to juxtapose the most micro aspects of daily life (like the artery of a heart) with the macro components of the larger world around us (like the expansive forest).
"They sort of mirror the emotional and physical aspects of the heart," Sipos adds.
