Dan Mangan's recent Club Meds was the first official release to feature his backup band, Blacksmith, but the Vancouver artist has revealed he'll be tackling the music solo on his next Canadian tour.
A press release confirms that Mangan is set to undertake his first proper solo tour in years this November. While the singer-songwriter had initially performed all by his lonesome, the last several tour cycles have found him backed by a regular band. Eventually, this roster of onstage collaborators would congeal as Blacksmith. It's explained that the upcoming trek will be the first time he'll be hitting the road to play shows on his own in close to 10 years.
It's noted that while Blacksmith are "integral" to the sound of Club Meds, Mangan is up to the task of re-envisioning the material as a one-man band. He'll be performing reworked tracks from the album, as well as older material, between Vancouver Island and Saskatchewan. Touring these songs as such is being "will likely be a once in a lifetime experience."
