Cavalera Conspiracy Get Nate Newton to Play Bass on Next LP

Nate Newton's personal discography has seen him playing on an awesome assortment of records from Converge, Doomriders, Old Man Gloom, Jesuit and more. He'll be adding one more impressive and oppressive platter to that list, as he's revealed he's playing bass on the next full-length from Cavalera Conspiracy.

The hardcore vet confirmed his contribution to the Cavalera brothers' third full-length, which has yet to be titled. He made it clear, though, that his new role with Cavalera Conspiracy has no effect on his long-standing relationship with Converge.

"Just wanted to get some info to everyone since I've been getting so many messages.... Yes I am playing bass on the new Cavalera Conspiracy record. No...I am not going to leave Converge," he posted through the latter's Facebook page.

"I thought it would be fun to play with the guys who wrote some of my favorite metal records," he added, referencing Brazilian brothers Max and Igor Cavalera's set of trailblazing LPs with Sepultura. "That's all...no big story here other than it's pretty awesome when people who's [sic] music you've admired for years ask you to be a part of it with them. I'm honored!"

Though details are still developing on the next Cavalera Conspiracy, which follows 2011's Blunt Force Trauma, it will be the group's first for Napalm Records. Max Cavalera said in a press statement last month that the LP will feature a "brutal grind core style," and should arrive sometime in 2014.

As previously reported, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy got together with the brothers to discuss the direction of the record. Igor said the producer told them to strip down to a two-piece and become "a metal version of the White Stripes," but apparently this idea was vetoed.
