Casey MQ is re-entering the hyperpop sphere with the release of new single, "Telephone Light," featuring 2021 Exclaim! New Fave, Petal Supply.
The track, which is out now via Cascine, follows Casey's 2020 debut album babycasey and its remix addendum babycase: ultra, which was released the following year. With additional production assists from umru, "Telephone Light" tells the story of long-distance love and the intimate connection that forms on phone screens in the dark.
Of the single, Casey said in a statement: "Petal and I started working on 'Telephone Light' in the studio and quickly found a shared POV on what it's like to be separated from the one you love — finding all the possible ways to stay connected even if you're miles apart."
Petal Supply continued in the statement:
Getting together in the studio we shared such an instant sense of songwriting chemistry and immediately knew what to write about. When we arrived we had so much fun playing around with the photo lighting setup and smoke machine that were set up in the studio, and I think that energy translated really well into the playful song we ended up with.
