Last July, Born Ruffians began talking about their plans for a new album. Now, the Ontario indie rock outfit have made good on their promise and confirmed the details surrounding their next LP.
The record is called RUFF, and it will be out on October 2 through Paper Bag Records/Yep Roc Records. This is the follow-up to 2013's Birthmarks, and as a press release puts it: "If Birthmarks was polished and presentable, RUFF is the ugly innards that hide beneath."
The album was recorded with Jeff McMurrich (Fucked Up, Owen Pallett, Constantines) in Toronto and mixed by returning collaborator Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Austra).
A press release further explains, "[Frontman] Luke Lalonde has been tinkering with the machinery of the universe. Seething with rage and ambition, he offers a succession of songs following the circuitous motion of tidal mood swings."
See the tracklist below. At the bottom of the page, hear the triumphantly twitchy "We Made It." If you're suitably impressed, CDs and vinyl can be pre-ordered here, while digital copies are on iTunes. That's the album cover above.
Also below, check out Born Ruffians' busy upcoming live schedule. Following a couple of summer shows, the band will tour extensively between September and early December; this includes lots of North American shows and a European leg. There are Canadian shows in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
