Ti West isn't quite done with the horny and highly stylized world he crafted with this year's throwback slasher flick X — or at the very least, he isn't done with Mia Goth's ancient antagonist — and today he's shared the first glimpse of the story's next (well, previous) chapter.
The origin story of the titular character, Pearl sends us back to her frustrated, fame-hungry youth at the yet-to-be rundown farmhouse where X's bloodbath eventually takes place. Judging by the trailer, Ti West is going for a different sort of decade-specific pastiche, saturating the movie in Wizard of Oz-esque technicolour vibrancy.
The trailer features Goth's Pearl caring for her ailing father, killing animals (and people), learning about porn and generally being unhinged in the bucolic countryside. Pearl will hit theatres on September 16.
