South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced a new deal that will extend their beloved show for seven more seasons, and see 14 original made-for-streaming movies arrive exclusively on Paramount Plus.

The $900 million deal with MTV Entertainment Studios will keep South Park on Comedy Central through 2027, for "an unprecedented 30th season" that year.

South Park's 23rd season wrapped in December 2019. Its 24th season has taken the form of a pair of 47-minute special episodes: a Pandemic Special and Vaccination Special.

"Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we're really happy that they've made a commitment to us for the next 75 years," Parker and Stone shared in a statement. "When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way to produce the show during the pandemic, [Chris McCarthy], [Nina Diaz], [Keyes Hill-Edgar] and [Tanya Giles] were immediately supportive and enabled us to try something new that turned out to be really well received. We can't wait to get back to doing traditional South Park episodes but now we can also try out new formats. It's great to have partners who will always take a chance with us."

South Park premiered on Comedy Central in 1997. This year's South ParQ Vaccination Special ranks as the top cable telecast of the year with an audience of nearly 3.5M total viewers, while The Pandemic Special holds the title of cable's top scripted telecast of 2020.

The latter special recently earned the show its 19th Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Animated Program category.
