After giving us our first look at the Game of Thrones prequel with some official images from the series back in May, HBO has finally released the teaser trailer for House of the Dragon. Jousting, fire, ominous lighting — oh my!
Based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire and Blood, the series will be set 200 years prior to A Song of Fire and Ice — the book that inspired the sprawling Game of Thrones franchise.
This little teaser gives little other information as to what the plot entails, but it's definitely about the House of Targaryens and their family history. "Gods, kings, fire and blood," Prince Daemon Targaryen's dramatic voiceover reminds, "Dreams didn't make us kings — dragons did."
Matt Smith leads the charge in a billowing wig as the prince, with other cast members including Emma D'Arcy, Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson and Gavin Spokes.
Watch the teaser trailer below ahead of House of the Dragon's anticipated release in 2022.
Production on the series began in April and paused due to an on-set COVID case in July.
