John Goodman Says Roseanne Will Be Killed Off for 'The Conners'

Earlier this year, ABC decided to cancel Roseanne after the show's titular star had a racist rant on Twitter. Due to the show's overwhelming popularity, the network decided to bring back everyone except Roseanne for a new show called The Conners — and they're making sure she'll never have a cameo.

Speaking with the Sunday Times, the show's John Goodman confirmed that Roseanne would be killed off. When asked about how his character Dan would change for The Conners, he said, "It's an unknown. I guess he'll be mopey and sad because his wife's dead."

With that in mind, ABC's previously released synopsis for The Conners makes a lot of sense:

After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family — Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. — grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging, and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns — with love, humour and perseverance, the family prevails.

Stay tuned for more details on the Roseanne-less Roseanne as they become available.
