Zack de la Rocha to Release Solo Album in 2017

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 9, 2016

If the release of Zack De La Rocha's El-P-produced "Digging for Windows" single yesterday (September 8) has you jonesing for more solo material from the Rage Against the Machine vocalist/activist, you're in luck: a full-length offering has been pegged for release in 2017.

Though details surrounding de la Rocha's formal solo debut have yet to arrive in full, a rep for the singer confirmed with Consequence of Sound that the record should be out sometime next year. Additionally, Run the Jewels rapper El-P had a few things to say about the project after he and the vocalist's hard-smacked track landed online.

While it's unclear exactly how much of the album El-P is involved with, a series of tweets explains that he set to work with de la Rocha on the as-yet-unnamed project back in January. Apparently, the new collection consists of material prepped throughout 2016.

While de la Rocha hasn't revealed much on his end, he did plug the latest single via his newly reinstated official Twitter account.

The solo album won't be the first major project de la Rocha has launched since the rise of Rage Against the Machine in the early '90s. In 2008, he issued an EP with Mars Volta member Jon Theodore under the moniker One Day As a Lion.
