Yo La Tengo are in the midst of their annual Hanukkah shows in New York, and is so often the case, the indie rock vets are bringing out some special celebrity guests. This year one of those has turned out to be none other than beloved Academy Award-nominated actor Michael Shannon.
As Brooklyn Vegan reports, Yo La Tengo's show last night (December 18) at the Bowery Ballroom found Shannon joining the band for a pretty bad-ass cover of Suicide's 1977 classic "Ghost Rider," with the actor dressing and sounding a hell of a lot like the late Alan Vega.
As is so often the case, some fan out there recorded the performance, and you can check it out down below.
Besides Shannon, other guests included comedian Chris Gethard, as well as members of Hypnolovewheel and 75 Dollar Bill. Fred Armisen also popped by to play drums a bit.
