Ahead of the release of their new record, Shadow Offering, Braids have shared another new single, titled "Just Let Me."
Frontwoman Raphaelle Standell-Preston is joined by and Derek Branscombe for the direction of the music video, which sees dancers Stephen Quinlan and Justin De Luna performing a number choreographed by Axelle Munezero.
Here's what the band had to say about the new song:
"Just Let Me" explores the push and pull of a relationship, the narratives we create between our partners, the inevitable hardships of love. At the time of writing, my own relationship was struggling and I went to an older friend of mine for advice. She expressed to me that if she could do it all over again, she wishes that during times of argument she had simply raised up her late husband's arms and danced with him.
The song was born of a desire to get through to one's partner, to work through those feelings of complacency, stagnation, of pointless arguments; when you feel your partner, though sitting across the table from you, is further away than if they were not there at all. It's a yearning to understand how a love that was once there and so clear, could slip away. It asks the universal question that so many relationships encounter along their journey — where did our love go?
"Just Let Me" is the latest from Braids' forthcoming record, which has been postponed from its original April release to June 19 via Secret City Records. The new offering follows album singles "Snow Angel," "Young Buck" and "Eclipse (Ashley)."
A press release promises that Shadow Offering will find the band "at their most personal, unabashedly flexing a new sense of confidence through songs that reach a higher level of artistry and collaboration."
