Taylor Bonner Smith — best known as a member of Montreal electropop trio Braids — has released a new solo EP of ambient music.
Smith's Bog, released today via Bandcamp, follows the band's 2023 album, Euphoric Recall. Mastered by Harris Newman, the musician describes the five-track collection as having been recorded "sporadically" between May 2021 and August 2023.
On one hand, Bog is an apt title, speaking to the sheer density of sound Smith is working with here. On another, its glimmer is so much prettier than the thought of a wet, muddy marsh allows for. Maybe I just need to open my eyes to the beauty of bogs?
